Project: Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Responses (MPDSR)

Position Details

Position: District Coordinator

Salary: Negotiable

Duty Station: Chadpur, Noakhali, Bandarban

Duration: 10 August 2025 to 31 December 2025

Job Responsibilities

  1. Liaison and coordination with Government of Bangladesh (GoB) counterparts, DGHS, DGFP, DGNM, UNFPA, and NGO partners to ensure effective implementation of MPDSR activities at district and upazila levels.
  2. Collaborate closely with health facilities and service providers to operationalize all components of the MPDSR process, including death notifications, verbal and social autopsies, and facility death reviews.
  3. Facilitate the formation and functioning of MPDSR committees and sub-committees, and help establish death mapping systems at the local level.
  4. Plan and conduct training sessions for healthcare providers including doctors, nurses, and midwives, HA, FWA, FPI, AHI, to build knowledge and skills essential for quality MPDSR implementation.
  5. Provide supportive supervision and training to community health workers and volunteers for timely and accurate death notification and reporting.
  6. Actively engage communities, religious leaders, and local influencers to raise awareness and build ownership around maternal and perinatal death prevention.
  7. Regularly monitor field-level activities to ensure high-quality implementation and track key performance indicators, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  8. Undertake routine field visits to observe, support, and troubleshoot program activities at the grassroots level.
  9. Establish and nurture partnerships with government health departments, NGOs, the private sector, and community-based stakeholders to create a collaborative ecosystem for MPDSR.
  10. Organize and lead regular MPDSR review meetings at district and upazila levels, fostering shared learning and collective problem-solving.
  11. Support the preparation and execution of district-level MPDSR action plans, ensuring local priorities are addressed.
  12. Identify operational challenges in real-time and propose practical, evidence-informed solutions to ensure project success.
  13. Maintain strict adherence to national protocols, donor requirements, and ethical standards throughout all project activities.

Job Requirements

  1. MSS in Social Science/Equivalent (Master of Public Health (MPH) preferred).
  2. At least 3 years of experience in public health and program implementation.
  3. Experience coordinating with DGHS, DGFP, DGNM, and GoB agencies.
  4. Proven experience working with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations.
  5. Flexibility to travel to field locations for supervision and monitoring.
  6. Strong understanding of local cultural, social, and environmental factors.
