Project Bhasa

Overview

PROJECT Bhasa is a comprehensive drowning prevention plan that has been implemented in three Upazilas namely Kalapara, Betagi and Taltoli in the Barishal Division. Based on the findings from Bangladesh Health and Injury Survey 2005 and 2016, it was identified that the Barishal Division was the most drowning prone area in the country, and children aged 1-4 and 5-9 are the most vulnerable groups.

The project aimed to reduce child drowning by 40% and implemented the evidence based interventions that were tested in Bangladesh and recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Preventing Drowning: an Implementation Guide (2017).
