Project: End Obstetric Fistula in Sylhet Division

Position: National Consultant for Video Documentary on Journey to End Fistula in Bangladesh

Location: Dhaka and project field sites

Type of Contract: Individual Contract

Background

The persistence of obstetric fistula—a devastating childbirth injury primarily affecting poor, marginalized women and girls—constitutes a human rights violation and public health crisis. The Government of Bangladesh, in collaboration with UNFPA and CIPRB, is committed to reducing fistula cases to zero by 2030. This initiative includes documenting the journey to end fistula through impactful video content.

Objective

  1. Produce a 3-4 minute video highlighting the challenges and recovery of fistula survivors.
  2. Showcase the efforts of stakeholders in raising awareness and providing treatment.
  3. Highlight the importance of campaigns in remote areas such as Sunamganj/Tea Gardens.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with CIPRB and UNFPA teams for project alignment.
  2. Develop a professional video adhering to organizational communication guidelines.
  3. Travel extensively to Dhaka and project field sites for filming.
  4. Manage all logistics, including travel and accommodations for the production team.
  5. Oversee production phases and deliver high-quality outputs within deadlines.
  6. Highlight key stories, including interviews with stakeholders and experts.
  7. Ensure all permissions and consent are obtained for filming and publication.
  8. Submit raw footage, still photography, and final productions to CIPRB and UNFPA.

Competencies and Experience

  1. Proven expertise in documentary filmmaking and storytelling.
  2. Access to professional filming, sound recording, and editing equipment.
  3. Strong leadership and analytical skills with experience in cross-cultural environments.
  4. Proficiency in video editing software and an eye for impactful content.
  5. Minimum bachelor’s degree in arts, development studies, or a related field.
  6. Experience working with UN/donor/INGOs and producing similar documentaries.
