Dr Salim Mahmud Chowdhury is renowned public health researcher and injury epidemiologist. Currently, he works as the Director – Health System Research Division and RTI Prevention and Research Unit of CIPRB. He also worked with the World Health Organization (Regional Office for South-East Asia); Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit (IIRU); and the World Health Organization, Country Office, Kenya as an injury prevention expert. Following his PhD in Social Medicine from the Karolinska Institute, Sweden, he conducted more than 35 research projects either as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator. Injury Prevention, Health System Strengthening, Social Determinants of Health, Neglected Tropical Diseases and Environmental Health are the areas of his interest. He designed and leaded number of ground-breaking national surveys. Dr Salim has provided technical support in drafting numbers of regional and national strategic documents and technical papers on different public health issues. He has around 50 publications.
