CIPRB is committed to continue exploring effective solutions in all aspect of Drowning Prevention

Since the United Nation declared July 25 as World Drowning Prevention Day (WDPD) in 2021 and accepted the Drowning Prevention resolution, WDPD has been celebrated every year by organizing multipurpose programmes by CIPRB. CIPRB observes WDPD with utmost importance as it has strong commitment to stop this ‘silent epidemic’ since its’ foundation in 2005.

With the slogan for 2024 “Better Safe than Sorry”, CIPRB has observed the 4th World Drowning Prevention Day on 25 July 2024 by conducting an in-house meeting in the conference room. The Executive Director Prof. Dr. AKM Fazlur Rahman presided over the meeting. In his speech, the ED said, ‘CIIPRB has a mission to eliminate drowning from Bangladesh. We all are here to discuss how better we can expedite this mission in future.” The Deputy Executive Director and Director, International Drowning Prevention Research Division, Dr. Aminur Rahman said, “CIPRB has six projects running to prevent drowning in Bangladesh. From the foundation of CIPRB, we are working on Drowning Prevention and now the whole world recognizes CIPRB as a leading research organisation in this field. We must work more; ampules of opportunities are here and together we all can contribute to eliminate drowning in Bangladesh.” Both has expressed their gratitude to all the partners from all over the world and to the Government of Bangladesh who has taken number of initiatives to prevent drowning in Bangladesh. All staff who were present at the office participated in this meeting along with other divisional directors and committed to work more extensively to prevent drowning including the adult.

Drowning Prevention Day-24 has also been observed in the field offices of CIPRB by discussing on what else to be done to increase community engagement and mass awareness to prevent drowning. Respective field teams were the participants in those meetings.
